New! Gwerin Iau – residential folk weekend for children age 7-11

Sep 27, 2016 | Communities Work, Gwerin Iau

Glan Llyn, 2-4 December 2016

trac and Urdd Gobaith Cymru are linking up to offer a new weekend especially for younger children.

Gwerin Iau (“Young Folk”) features singing, clogging and instruments with three experienced and popular tutors: Angharad Jenkins and Bethan Rhiannon of Calan (left) and Gwenan Gibbard (below) in the glorious setting of the Urdd centre at Glan Llyn near Bala in north Wales.

All the tutors specialise in presenting music and folk dance  to children of all ages. For the instrumental activities, it would help for the children to have some instrumental background as they will be learning tunes by ear, but for those who do not play there will be plenty of opportunities to sing and take part in step dance (clogging).

There will also be an opportunity to take part  in Glan-llyn’s exciting outdoor activities, from canoeing, high ropes, and climbing, to ten pin bowling and swimming.

The Urdd will arrange transport (for an extra cost) if there is sufficient demand.
No school teachers will attend but Glan-llyn staff will be looking after the children whilst at the centre.

Cost: £75. Booking is by cheque to the Urdd via your school/Aelwyd or by post to Gwersyll yr Urdd GlanLlyn, Llanuwchllyn, Bala LL23 7ST. Please contact trac for a booking form by emailing trac@trac-cymru.org
