BEAM 2017: the Big Experiment / yr Arbrawf Mawr
1-3 September, Carmarthen
Join us at the Halliwell Centre at Trinity St David’s university campus for a weekend cram-packed with music, dance and song, this year featuring special guests CALAN.
There’ll be nearly 30 hours of tuition and activities including mixed-instrument groups, songs, clogging, taster workshops, concerts, a twmpath, films and sessions. It’s a fantastic environment to learn new repertoire, improve your technique, experiment with unfamiliar instruments, songs and dance styles, and make new friends at the same time. The evening events and afternoon workshops are open to the public.
Tutors and groups
Patrick Rimes takes the advanced instruments classes with Angharad Jenkins and Guto Dafis for intermediate level players and Aidan Sheehan coaxing great things from the Foundation group. Arfon Gwilym is back to take the song strand. Bethan Rhiannon will be teach clogging at intermediate to advanced level, with a separate clog class for beginners and refreshers with Tudur Phillips.
Young folkies, aged 7-10 have their own morning group this year, with Sioned Webb, and if there’s enough interest there’ll be an afternoon group for them too. (Under 16s will need to be accompanied by an adult if they’re coming for the weekend.)
You can read more about the tutors and their groups here, together with info on the afternoon workshops which are open to the public
