The competition, part of the Cwlwm Celtaidd Festival in Porthcawl, will be held on Sunday afternoon, March 10th.
Children/young people between the ages 10 and 18 are invited to take part.
Competitors will play an unaccompanied Celtic tune or medley of traditional Celtic tunes, on an instrument of their own choice. Original tunes written in the tradition will be allowed.
Participants will be expected to give a brief introduction to their presentation before playing, and performances will last between 3 and 5 minutes.
Prize:
• the winner will play in the final concert on Sunday afternoon;
• a cash prize of £100;
• winner’s name to be inscribed on the Festival Trophy;
• a trophy, donated by Ewenny Pottery to be retained by the individual;
• the accolade of being the ‘Young Musician of the Festival’.
