We’re thrilled that the National Lottery have selected 10 Mewn Bws for the finals of their Awards this year. One of only three projects from Wales and the only Welsh finalist in the Arts category, our groundbreaking project needs your votes!

The project took ten young Welsh musicians – some folkies, some from other musical genres – introduced them to some of our greatest tradition bearers and to the sound archives of the National Library and St Fagans National History Museum, and challenged them to compose and arrange an album of Welsh folk music for the 21st century. The resulting CD and tour have been critically acclaimed, leading to appearances at Swn and at the Hay Festival, supporting Cerys Matthews. 10 Mewn Bws, which was funded by the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Wales, was the brainchild of our Project Officer, Angharad Jenkins.

You can read more about our ten musicians here, listen to the album here and there’s a playlist of videos from their recent tour on our home page.
